MOOIKRANS EQUUS is a horse-riding centre and holiday farm, situated on the escarp of the Highveld of Mpumalanga, 27 km from Morgenzon on the R35 route to Amersfoort.

It is a family business, already widely known for its hospitality, friendliness and the high standard of all its activities. It is not uncommon to eventually become friends with those people who were first regarded as visitors. The slogan for Mooikrans, Seize the Day, is a portrayal of the Christian values and in the faith that each day must be lived in God’s honor. The personnel on the farm aim, and do their utmost best, to ensure a safe and unforgettable experience for each visitor to Mooikrans.

What we offer: an unforgettable experience

A variety of educational, psychotherapeutical and social programmes are presented.

The wide spectrum of programmes are compiled to ensure that schools, groups or individuals, children and youth tourists, may choose their appropriate programme, depending on their needs and requirements. Programmes therefore include leadership training and development, educational programmes, a series of courses in the art of horse-riding such as ‘western’ or ‘cowboy’. A unique experience is also guaranteed through the variety of self-help programmes for children and the youth.

The purpose of the programmes is to build each visitor’s character by developing their self image and independence, while they are having a holiday experience. Within this, the horses and horse-riding plays a pivotal role. Horses are used as they require the undivided attention of their jockey and body and mind must work together to achieve success. The mastering of the horse during this process, almost instinctively leads to self-confidence and a healthy self-image.

Mooikrans Equus is equipped to accommodate 100 people in seven sleeping halls. In addition, a few private rooms are also available. The tariffs for 2010 are now available.

Mooikrans Equus is a member of the Amajuba Publicity and Tourism Association and fall in the Grass and Wetlands vicinity of the Mpumalanga Tourism Authority.

EQUESTRIAN COURSES

Weekend clinics and farm holidays are the perfect opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge about horsemanship. After each course you are awarded a beautiful certificate. These courses vary in difficulty and only on successful completion of each course, may the next course be attempted. Courses are: Horse Friend, Horsemanship, Equine Master, Cowboy, Vaquero, Caballero and Senior Equine Master witch include Body language of the horse, Western riding, Reining, Schooling of a western horse, Injuries, Medication, Hoof care, etc.

Riders may bring their own horse to a camp.
