Educational Programs
The learning and therapeutic value of horse riding as well as the mutual gathering with the animals are used maximally with all the programs.
The horse with its unique characteristics (pride, power, fullness of love, magnitude, tolerance) makes him a wonderful tool in the learning process of each child and in the personality development of each grownup. Besides the horse (which is always part of all activities) is the cognitive development area included to be creative, organize and perform logical thinking in order to develop cooperation in groups and to promote confidence and trust in the other group members to develop.

Veld School Camps
Mooikrans offers a unique alternative to the familiar veldskool idea. Schools can choose from a variety of topics offered by the Mooikrans Equus team. The practical component of each topic makes a lasting impression on each student.

All activities are hosted by the personnel and involves the following:

• Daily horse riding coaching for beginner and out rides in the veld.
• A day long distance out ride with picnic in the veld.
• A short reading about horses, e.g. body language of a horse, horse illnesses, the caring of horses, the choice of a suitable riding horse.
• Woodwork, make of clay oxen, sheering of sheep
• Milking the cows, giving milk to calves and lambs, taking out eggs, other farm related work such as taking feed out to the animals on a tractor-trailer
• Riding calves or teasing the ram
• Swimming in the farm pond, kleilat throw, mud fights and other adventurous games played outside such as lantern stalking and flag snatching
• Horse cart, tractor and trailer out rides

Leadership Development Courses
This course offers each child a chance to develop and build on the leadership qualities that he/she may have. This includes skills such as self-confidence, responsibility, communication skills, problem solving; coping with conflict and crises. The Cognitive Development course develops reasoning, logic thoughts, goal setting and goal identification, teamwork in groups and building trust in group members. Children with strong leadership qualities will easily be identified. This camp will also be presented during the farm holiday.

Teambuilding Camps
Team building camps are for the ready chosen leaders of a school.

The following subjects are dealt with during the camp:
-What the school expect of me
-Planning methods for projects, functions, ect.
-Cooperation in group format
-Motivating fellow learners

Land service camps
The beauty of our farm, covering approximately 4000ha, offers Land Service groups the opportunity to expand their knowledge of nature.
A large variety of grasses, wild plants and wildlife species can be found on Mooikrans. Clean Silver springs are naturally found on the farm and form permanent watercourses. Beautiful blue gum trees provide enough shelter for an adventure like "sleep out" under the stars.

Voortrekker Camps
The expert staff of Mooikrans Equus offers lectures for Voortrekker Teams coming to Mooikrans to receive their badge for equestrian art.

Trekkers Special Distinctions badges
For Voortrekkers, Mooikrans is therefore the place offering the best opportunity to obtain badges for various Special Distinctions. The Voortrekkers' National Youth Summit was held on Mooikrans Equus during the long weekend in April. It was a privilege to be of service for the movement. A total of 95 explorers had their horsemanship badges awarded during this weekend.

Anglo Boer War (Suggested program)
A visit to Mooikrans for the Anglo Boer War can be planned as follow:

• 15:00 Leave from Mooikrans
• 17:00 Drive to Standerton and visit the concentration camp cemetery. Visit the monument established for Ms. Magrietha Swart who lost all eight of her children in one week.
• 19:00 Stop in Morgenzon the NG Church Terrain by the Monument for Boer warriors who died during the war.
• 19:30 On our way to Mooikrans, we pass the well known beacon, Bloukop, where skirmishes between the Boere and the British occurred. The remains of the heliograph station used during the war can be seen.
• 19:30 Arrive at Mooikrans Equus.
• 20:00 Dinner and wash up
• 21:00 Reading for prospective riders. "The behavior of the horse, his body language and what meaning it has for the prospective rider"
• 22:00 Short overview of the role the horse had in the Anglo Boer War.
• 22:30 Night-march of +3 km. Keeping direction with the stars. Stress the inhospitable state of the Highveld during the winter months, during the scorched earth policy of the English.
• Bible study. Bed time.

• 6:00 Rise. Feed the farm animals. Morning Bible Study. Breakfast
• 8:30 Horse riding. Beginners start in riding school. Experience riders go out into the veld.
• 13:30 Lunch. Bread on a stick at the dam.
• 14:30 Swim and kleilat
• 18:00 A trip to the cliffs to see the sun set.
• 20:00 Dinner
